The women

I loved seeing an all female cast where men were talked about but never seen. I found that very clever. That also could be symbolic of the fact that men (for these women) are always on the minds of women or at the center of women's existence whether they are physically present or not. I do wish that the topic or theme of the film was not about marriage or men. But as a topic the film did bring up interesting points. Like wether or not to stay with a man if he cheats. It's interesting though that in either case, whether the woman stays in the relationship or leaves, its seen as her fault (in the film). It's her fault he cheated because she wasn't enough and it's her fault for getting a divorce when she could just stay in the relationship. Besides that point I don't see what else the film was trying to say. Again, I love the female cast but the topic of the film was so bland to me that I couldn't bring myself to really enjoy it. Side-note: it was weird that the fashion show scene was in color but the rest of the film was in black and white.

The very first "Chick Flick"?

A very funny movie this may very will be the all time classic "chick flick". Tons of gossip and cat fights and the main thing that i believe caught the attention of many people with this movie is realism. In some cases this is truly how some women act and I believe that's what ads to the comedy and success of this movie is that so many people and especially women can relate. I feel as if this movie really went after the topic of divorce and maybe how many women back then had the fear of being replaced or having their husband cheat on them by a younger women. As i said before women could relate to this film very easily and it gave a sense of women coming together and really was one of the first movies to start this idea or give off the impression of feminism. An overall very funny comedy with a well put together all-star cast of female actors who all did an incredible job with this film.

The Women (1939)

The women was a hilarious classic. i loved how it was an all woman cast. Rosalind Russell and Joan Crawford are my favorite actresses in this time period and it was amazing seeing the two be so funny in this cute film. I love how Rosalind wears silly clothes like the eyeball shirt in one of the scenes. She's too much for me sometimes.
