A Knock-out from Start to Finish!

Despite lukewarm reviews, the film broke even on its opening weekend and went on to pay back its investors at least three times their money. I side with the majority of moviegoers who made this feat possible. Jessica Alba gives a superb performance. She never falters in what was certainly an extremely difficult role. I was with her all the way. The film was not only expensively and expansively produced, but brilliantly directed from go to whoa. The support cast was also well chosen. I would have cast someone more conventional than Alessandro Nivola, but it's still a fine bit of casting and it works out well. Production values are superb. The climax really knocked me out!

I wish I was blind too so I didn't have to watch this crap

This must have been one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I bet Jessica Alba wishes she was blind in real life so she didn't have to see this movie. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Chloe grace Moretz by far had the best acting and she was only 8 1/2 years old. So disappointed. Absolute garbage. I really wanted this movie to be good but it was the opposite If you want to be wise Do not watch this movie EVER. There are much better things to waste your time on This must be up there with some of the worst movies I have EVER seen Absolutely SHOCKING. We were debating whether to watch this or ted 2 how we decided on. This garbage is beyond me.so once again definitely avoid. By the end of the movie you begin. To wish that you had been the one who was hit in the eyes with glass shards.

A useless, over-glossed remake of a damn good film

I'm going to preface this by saying that if you haven't seen The Pang Brothers' original film, The Eye (2002), please do, because it's the same plot but better.

I watched this film not expecting much, so in that sense I guess my expectations were met, but all in all, this edition is too pretty, too shiny, and try as it may (if you could say it tries) to retain the emotional power of the original, it fails.

Alba's performance was solid enough, and young Chloe Grace Moretz is adorable, but all of the side characters come across as self-interested assholes, especially the doctor, who we're supposed to like by the end of the movie, but still comes across as misogynistic and self-absorbed. Since I haven't read the script (and honestly, why would I?), I don't know how much of this was actor's choices and how much of it was in the script, but all in all, the combination of forced, cheap jump scares and average to bad acting made this movie sub-par.

Was it a waste of time? No, not if you want to learn how to make good films by studying not so good examples, or even if you just want something to put on in the background while you do other things. But don't expect brilliance.
