A good dance movie

Abandoned by his dance crew, Sean quickly assembles a new one with the help of a close friend in order to compete in a reality show called "The Vortex", which will reward its winner with a three year contract. Things won't prove to be easy as the recent past will come to haunt him while his mentality will tend to jeopardize his relation with the girl he likes. Add up a fishy conquest to the picture and you get a movie which excels through music and dance but fails to provide a good plot or a serious romance story. It's simply too cliché and too predictable to be a good story and too superficial in terms of romance. If you're looking for cool dance moves and entertaining music, this is a movie for you, if you want anything else, look elsewhere.

More like, step down

I was not impressed by this movie in any way, shape of form. The dancing was all over with very little logic in the sequencing and it might just be me, but I got the idea that they aimed for each individual to try and be better perceived than the next, instead of dancing as a group. The group sync is supposed to be the best thing about the dancing scenes and the only ones where they were any good, were at the final routine.

The acting is VERY bad in this movie; not just execution but the approach to some of the characters are weak to say the least.

The 'macho' attitude is also overdone once again, in the beginning sequence where the team splits up cause they simply can't do it anymore. The main character does then not even attempt to contact his old crew to ask them if they want to participate in the competition. This does not make sense at all and was an element they could rather have left out of the movie completely.

I watched this on DVD and have to admit that I found myself forwarding chunks of the movie so I could get to the end quicker.

Really Bad!!

Just awful. Bad acting, watered storyline and not fun at all.The characters were emotionless, the dancing was mediocre, there was absolutely no plot, and the acting wasn't all that great. I'm a huge step up fan but this was just a true disappointment and I came to see its premiere. Sad, sad day. Ryan Guzman's acting was horrifying and after seeing step up 4, I expected more. Briana's acting was okay. The rest of the characters' acting really fell flat, even my all time favorite, moose. So disappointed. But Joy had never turned more quickly into disappointment than it did as the movie rolled on....People actually walked off the theater after the first half...So i guess i wasn't the only that found this lacking.
