OK at best

This movie aims at a "horror" approach at the "Little Red Riding Hood" fairy tale, and only sort of succeeds. Amanda Seyfried and the rest of the cast is good, but it only works in spurts. I liked the scenes where she talks to the wolf, but for the most part the movie fails to entice. They could have done a better job. It was average for the most part and could have been better. Imagine how good it could have been if it had worked! It dragged a lot, and in some places provided some good scary parts, and I thought it was OK, but not great.

Gets better as it goes along

Some people say that this movie is the twilight take on the classic red riding hood story, I want you to know that every person who says that is 100% right. Yes they're right, this is sort of a teen twilight version of the classic fairytale, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the movie is all bad. Some people with knowing that will purposefully stray far away from this movie and never want anything to do with it, but I honestly think that's a mistake because it does get better as it goes along. When the movie first started, I really didn't think it would be all that good, The acting was just kind of so-so and the visuals were lackluster. The visuals though was one thing that didn't improve as the movie went along, The visuals just simply aren't that good, the special effects look hokey at times and the scenery shots look kind of fake. In the beginning, like I said, the acting really isn't that good, but I do think that it improves towards the middle and the end of the movie. It's my opinion that Amanda Seyfried was the right choice to star as Valerie in the movie, and I also liked the casting of Virginia Madsen is Valerie's mother. I didn't like the choice of Gary Oldman, he just seemed way too over-the-top and really cheesy, his character was a whole lot like a cartoon, and not in a good way. Shiloh Fernandez is actually really good in this movie and I thought he was the perfect choice for his character, he has just the right amount of charming good looks and acting chops to play the part. Max irons does a pretty good job with the role of Henry. To me, the first 25% of the movie was pretty bad but the other 75% progressively got better and I was very entertained by the end of it. Yes, there are some parts where the writing is kind of cheesy and could be better, so with all these factors considered, both the good and the bad, I'd say red riding hood is a solid 7.

Old Tale on a New Version

Most of the people didn't like this movie, but l enjoy...maybe the old tale has been changed but the primary elements was good enough. Althroug is a Studio's movie without external scenes and helped by graphic computer the movie works... and with the cast like Gary Oldman,Julie Christie and Virginia Madsen together with Amanda Seyfried and the young actors hold the picture...the false track in the script let the viewers confused who is the beast anyway....good entertainment really.
