Waste of time

I dont know how two giants like De Niro and Segorny Weaver agree to be in such a movie

Cheap, totally silly ending

The entire movie had a glass-half-empty feeling to it, but it was at least watchable. The pyrotechnics made no sense, though, and contrary to others here I saw the twist ending coming ... not because I'm so smart but simply because everything else was so excessive.

Doctor of paranormal phenomena is surrounded by fakes...this screenplay being one of them

Horrendously facetious and quasi-cynical thriller about a university academic and her professional partner, a young physicist, who investigate claims of paranormal occurrences, all of which are quickly revealed to be phony showmanship ("There are no miracles," she says, which makes us wonder why she chose such a field of study). The physicist soon becomes obsessed with exposing a celebrated blind psychic--who mentally bends spoons on TV shows in his spare time--a dangerous man who once got the best of the professor by bringing up a family tragedy during a public forum. Writer-editor-co-producer-director Rodrigo Cortés uses heightened sound effects to grab our attention, in place of a gripping story. He's also made the mistake of casting sleepy-eyed Cillian Murphy as the assistant who must take over after his mentor dies (it's hard to get a reading on Murphy, whether he's anguished from university interference, chasing elusive Robert DeNiro around town or because he can't seem to shake a classroom groupie who suddenly attaches herself to him). An ungodly bore. * from ****
