Why all the hate?

Yes, it is one of those infamous Disney sequels we all love to hate. But since the original Pocahontas was not that great, I do not entirely share the hatred towards this one.

There is a plot hole about Ratcliffe's return I feel is a little irritating, but that is pretty much the only thing. The animation is not bad, it just lacks some of those moments from the original (during Colors of the Wind and Savages for example).

The movie presents to us a couple of new character I actually like. Pocahontas' bodyguard is hilarious! Mrs. Jenkins is a likable clumsy character and John Rolfe is a little bland, but decent. I found Pocahontas' and Uti's interactions with the London crowd and the royals amusing. The best part of the movie.

The original Pocahontas has one of my favorite songs in the Disney catalog (Colors of the Wind), but aside from that the songs were forgettable. Ratcliffe was a weak villain and the romance was boring. Despite the aforementioned plot hole about Ratcliffe, I find his motivations more interesting in this one. The music also decent ("Where Do I Go From Here" is the most memorable).

I cannot be offended by Pocahontas' rejection of John Smith in this, because I find their romance was non-existing in the original. Despite the the still visible downgrade in the visual pleasing from the original this one is not a giant leap backwards compared to other Disney sequels (Hunchback, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast etc.)

Do not watch!

Worst, sequel, ever. Sure sequels to most movies are bad, but this just HORRIBLE. I wish I never watch it in the first place, killed the original movie for me. What makes me furious is that Pocahontas went with the new guy! No cute moments, no chemistry between them, no nothing! What happened to the we'll be together forever promise with the original John? I hate my decision to watch this. Beware, this movie will kill your childhood.

Alright, but the ending make me cringe

I know everyone bashed this movie because we all know the sequel is never as good as the original right? While Pocahontas 2 did somewhat live up to my expectations in the beginning, I was totally let down by the ending. Pocahontas travels to London in order to meet the king and settle issues between their people but he agrees to meet her only if she attends a ball to prove she is civilized. Some parts must admit were humorous and what I expected and hope. When she comes to England, her fascination and reaction is just what I expected. The songs weren't bad, really. They were witty but of course not as good as the first. I wouldn't totally bash the songs, they were alright. All in all, the story line wasn't bad. However, and ****SPOILER ALERT FROM HERE ON***

They did make Pocahontas fall in love with another man and I was just totally bummed and disappointed at that. She was in love with John Smith first then she's in love with another man now?! I saw the white dress in the picture and thought she would marry John Smith. Anyways that just totally ruined it for me - like i want to erase it all. Besides that, although a crucial thing for me,if i were to judge solely up until the ending, I actually sort of liked the movie. Oh, and one more thing...RATCLIFFE. What was that?! The king believes only him and where are all the crew member from the last movie to vouch for John Smith and prove Ratcliffe's innocence. That was a P.O. to be honest. OK i'm done.
