Not the best movie, but better than credited for

This is a fun movie that the whole family should see! In the movie, the main characters from the museum travel to Washington DC, Larry unfortunately bringing the tablet with him, which brings everyone at the museum they're at to life. We have Amelia Earhart, played by Amy Adams, which I loved, as well as the statue of Abraham Lincoln coming to life. Unfortunately, the bad guy is rather annoying. There's some great humor, fortunately without the monkey doing any business.

I don't see how this has 5.9/10 stars. I've detected that on IMDb, 8/10 stars and up means the movie is superior; the range of 7/10 stars means it's great; and the range of 6/10 stars and under means it's bad. This movie isn't exactly a wonderful movie that you'll want to watch over and over again, but it's good and worth watching. It should be in the range of the late 6/10 stars or early 7/10 stars. If you haven't watched it, you should. It's worth a shot.

A fair sequel with good comedy moments.

This film is the sequel to "The Night at the Museum" and it happens time after the action of this film. Larry is now a successful man but is surprised by the renovation of the Natural History Museum, where he worked and made friendship with all the creatures and historical figures who are statues during the day and come alive at night. Thus, he will try to prevent his friends from spending the rest of their existence in crates at the Smithsonian Museum, Washington DC. Although it no longer has the novelty impact the first film had, this sequel honoured, most of the time, the previous film. It's humor explores well the way Larry seems to be in permanent disagreement with his new way of life as a businessman, though he cannot see it. The comedy and jokes follow, roughly, the model previously established but they still can be funny enough. The script gives great emphasis to Amelia Earhart, portrayed as fearless and adventurous, but the bad side of that is the great romantic interest between her and Larry, an involvement whose outcome, although romantic and moving, was very predictable and gives us the will to shout "what's the point?" Ben Stiller remains impeccable as the protagonist and the supporting cast makes an excellent performance, keeping some of the previous names (Robin Williams, Owen Wilson and Steve Coogan) along with the villain, Hank Azaria, maybe one of the best voice actors of our time. So this is a rare case where sequel was able to honor the previous movie and gives us good entertainment.

History IS bought alive!

There have been a lot (well, nearly all) negative reviews about this movie, because I get a feeling the reviewers have missed a critical point... charm. And this comes from Amy Adams' portrayal of Amelia Earheart. I could not find a flaw with her performance. Her out-dated language, mannerisms, and yes, charm. Hank Azaria is the evil Egyptian king is just pure humor, if just a little childish, which adds to the humor. I liked the Tuskegee Airmen/Amelia scene when they first meet - a nice nod to both sides struggle in aviation. I just wonder if Amelia really was like this in person, because I would love to meet her! This is a fun movie, though some of the aerial sequences are far fetched (Wright brothers airplane scene did not fly like a fighter plane!), the Einstein bobble heads and Pi discussion are funny (look out for one of the heads bang his head on the table in frustration). All in all, ignore the negative reviews, sit back with the family or friends, and enjoy the cute story.
