A film about redemption

This was a film oftentimes crude and foul-mouthed but mostly well- written and, curiously enough, for a romcom, it featured one of my favourite themes, redemption. Love redeems Dane Cook's caddish, laddish Hudson through his falling in love with Kate Hudson's Alexis. In short, a stereotypical romcom plot but more abrasive than most and nonetheless thoroughly entertaining and uplifting.

The countdown devices at the beginning and the end of the film for Hudson's sideline of pretending to be the worst date ever were really inventive even if they made me wince at times. But this film had its heart in the right place even if it could also be pottymouth.

I don't like it, I love it, love it, love it.

Someone would probably think "9 stars for that?" HELL YES 9 STARS! It's really hard to find a romantic comedy that stays on its purpose: be romantic and funny. Well, 'My Best Friend's Girl' definitely gets there. The jokes are mostly entertaining(it gets a bit cheesy at times, but who cares), the male characters are very well played and Kate Hudson's character is everything I want a female character to be: strong, funny, hot and adventurous.

Spoilers:The ending really got me and it was way smarter than most romantic comedies' endings. Dustin's character was obviously cheesy as a part of the plot, but I was just feeling so sorry for him getting his eyebrows shaved, getting his painted eyebrows messy by the rain and being like his big love's gay, shopping friend that it made me uncomfortable. A lot of scenes were great and worthy, but Tank crying while watching 'Ghost', that was priceless!

If you need a light and beautiful romantic comedy, watch it without a doubt.
