How come this has such a high score on IMDb?

I made a terrible mistake by relying on this movie's score here on IMDb and gave it a try. It took me two days to try and finish this nonsense, trying to pause for sandwiches, phone calls I didn't want to make and even doing bits of work - anything just in order to not continue. I felt, however, that if I follow fellow spectators's advice, the plot was going to suddenly give me at least *some* thrills that the beginning/development of the movie failed to deliver.

No way it's anywhere near a 6. This movie is ridiculous crap. Don't bother, it won't even work as a time killer. Just find something else to watch.

I am not sure how they lured Keifer Sutherland into this project, it must have been about money vs effort implied. But I must say, it looks like he tried to be an actor through this disaster and work off the money, while everyone else involved was wiser and didn't bother acting.

Plain awful, it will bore you out of your trousers.

yer that was OK

just read the usual deep in depth conversations about the in depth junk about the depth of the movie blah blah blah.I'm a big horror fan and this was spot on ,as a scarer ,old fashioned gore ,tension ,even bits that were a bit rough to watch. i enjoyed this ,spooky atmosphere and the whole atmosphere of the film ,if your'e gonna go in and analyze every bit of it of course your'e gonna pick holes.messed up kiefer takes a security job in a disaster of a building where people were burn't to death in a store fire .the whole scenario as a security guard myself is nuts,I'm looking thinking there is no way i would go in where he just went ,which builds the tension .it all goes a bit mad and some points you think really !!this guys got balls of steel.and a bit nuts to throw in with it .like i said don't over analyze it ,it's just a horror flick made to scare and i think it did its job.

A horror movie that is worth a look

Let me start by saying I've never seen the movie that inspired this movie. From what I understand this is loosely based on a South Korean film "Into the Mirror" which I have not seen. Kiefer Sutherland, whom many recognize as the main character in the TV show "24" strikes me as an above average actor. With the promotion that came with "24" and the constant exposure to it I have trouble not seeing Sutherland as "That 24 guy". Not because the characters are too similar, which they may or may not be, but because his face is so unique and recognizable.

With that said, I like this movie. It has an unusual and mysterious atmosphere. Taking place in an abandoned architecture that has been burned. The place becomes the ex-detectives new hell as he is hired as a security guard to oversee this once valuable real estate. Wouldn't you know it, this place has a lot of mirrors. But like all mirrors, these might show you something you don't want to see.

Many of the scenes in this movie are exceptionally graphic in what appears to be a subtle mix of gratuitous practical effects with a professional and light use of CGI. I give this movie an extra point for 2 scenes in particular which gave me the eeewwww-ohhhhh-noooo factor that I so rarely experience in the yawn factory of CGI, video-game graphics cinematography. There are some truly disturbing scenes in this movie that were convincing enough to make me wince.
