Not Terrible

(Flash Review)

I was very reluctant to even give this a shot. It wasn't that bad. Sure it isn't spectacular but it is kid focused and actually has some respectable and creative visuals while putting its own little spin on the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs tale. The acting was quality and had some fun and visually impressive moments. Overall, it's a professionally done, had big name actors and was a safe for the whole family type of movie with dashes of humor.

A great re-imagining of a classic story

Mirror Mirror is, as you might expect, the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs told in a radical way. The evil queen starves her people and punishes Snow White for being more beautiful than her. Until one day when Snow manages to escape, meet a handsome prince and team up with a group of seven dwarfs in her attempt to stop the queen and redeem her throne.

All seems pretty classic but it sure isn't. Instead of being an animation, it's a proper, live-action movie presented in a rather unique way, let's say...a parody. A classic story presented as a parody is not something very common isn't it? Never mind, we're talking about a very funny movie, which tries to retell a fairytale in an entertaining way managing to not deviate a lot from the main story, even making it unexpected. Although it may look unpolished and made in a hurry, I must tell you, I really enjoyed it, and the fact that Julia Roberts and Lily Collins play the main roles, I think it means something. I wish you a nice watch! In my opinion it deserves it!

enjoyed it immensely

No idea why so many negative reviews and such a low rating overall. May be because it was a year when a few versions of the story were made for the screen? Giving it ten stars to bump the undeservingly low rating (otherwise would say it's an eight).

I took my daughter to see it at the theater back when it was released. Magical, beautiful, lighthearted and funny for all ages. Lovely indeed. Julia Roberts was superb, played the role with a great deal of humor... A funny take on the prince charming character, too. Just open your heart and mind - it's a fairy tale after all, let yourself be a kid for couple hours. Anyway, we both loved it. And did i mention that my daughter was 27 at the moment?
