Surpasses the first!

Insidious 1 was a very scary but weak in plot horror movie that in the end was satisfying, although nothing special to watch. The second installment isn't nearly as scary as the first one, but it develops a far better story with more angles, twists and turns. Patrick Wilson is awesome in his character and so are Rose Byrne and Lin Shaye. If you like horror movies that have some kind of good backstory and aren't just "Jump Scare, Jump Scare, Jump Scare" Insidious Chapter 2 is for you. 7/10

Boring And Pointless

I suppose this crap keeps people in a job and food on their tables. Road sweeping is more entertaining to watch. I can't include spoilers when it's already spoilt, a bit like rotting fish.

Felt a little nonsensical towards the end.

This sequel doesn't feel completely terrible. It does begin where the first one ended and tries to elaborate the story and explain whatever was going on. The first one was good enough to work out, and it would've been better if certain things were not overly explained. But, this sequel HAD to be made because of .... reasons. This isn't as slow and a bit dragged like the first one. This one has a good idea and a good concept, to be honest. In fact, the overall concept and the idea put into this film was, for me, better than that of the first one. This one indeed has some jump-scares, which adds almost no value to the entire story. The decent parts of horror were also present, didn't feel as generic as the first one. It has that mysterious and unpleasant feeling a horror film should have, in my opinion. Almost 3/4th of the entire film was pretty good and I felt it was much better than the first. Then, towards the end there are some elements of time travelling going on, which explains many things about this one as well as the previous one, which felt totally weird and nonsensical. It indeed generated some plot holes and made everything good about this feel stale. Had there been some better way than the mentioned sruff, it would've been much much and much better than the first one. The last quarter of the film ruined it for me. Also the humor is cringe-worthy in every sense.
