Crass, uncomfortable and moderately amusing

Moderately amusing "comedy" following a Denver businessman (Jason Bateman) who chases Melissa McCarthy -an Orlando thief who stole his identity and ruined his credit rating with a huge spending spree. When the local authorities refuse to do anything he heads to Orlando to personally capture her.

I don't think I actually LOL at any point during this movie, parts were uncomfortable, the humour crass especially on Melissa McCarthy's part, she is just a horrible person in this. Bateman plays it straight, almost dull his character. I did enjoy the redemptive ending and cameos by Jon Favreau, Robert Patrick, Robert banks and John Cho.

The storyline is somewhat implausible too, what with the police not helping or phoning to inform of spending in another state and also being okay with Bateman going after a criminal. The road trip however is amusing with influences of 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles'.

A Poor Person's PT&A

This movie is... um... Okay. Some laughs, but many more smiles . It's "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" in 2nd gear. Jason Bateman is the Steve Martin clone. There are some scenes that rip off the F-bomb counter scene. Melissa McCarthy is John Candy in drag. Her character is more ruthless, but she plays the likable unlikable.

Basic movie w/some silly humor, 5 Stars from me!

I thought this movie was just silly. I've seen Melissa McCarthy in Bridesmaids and this doesn't even come close. It was barely watchable. I also think Steve Carell could have been a better 'Male Sandy Patterson' than Jason Bateman, but I like Steve Carell's movies. He would have fit in well as Melissa McCarthy's counterpart in this movie. Anyway, obviously this is just my take. This could have been much better. Melissa McCarthy is a funny actress and she's better than these roles she has chosen lately. I haven't seen them all though. Either way, it had nice bittersweet ending and that's what made this movie worthy my time.
