Now this is what I call a fantastic movie!!

I never thought this movie would be so good and enjoyable. I found it strange, beautiful and haunting. First of all, the cast did an amazing work. Traci Lords as the mother and Annalynne McCord as the daughter were just flawless. Second of all, I am usually a straight horror fan but this movie mixed drama, horror and dark comedy so well that I enjoyed every aspect of the film. Third of all, the plot was in all of it's weirdness actually believable and it moved forward, there were no lazy dull moments but the movie was well put together. I have always had a soft spot for Traci and I loved the fact that she did such a strong characterization. I myself were, and I guess still am as an adult, a troubled person with dark fantasies and I actually somewhat identified with Pauline. Annalynne has frankly never been one of my favorites but this movie made her just that. Roger Bart as the dad and Ariel Winter as the sister did a great job too. No to mention when I saw my favorite Criminal Minds-actor Matthew G. Gubler. I need to get this movie on my dvd-collection asap!!!

A mediocre movie boosted by a great lead

This movie is kind of an odd one. Has a decent cast that includes John Waters and Malcolm Malcolm McDowell. The overall quality of it varies from decent to looking like lighting out of a student film. The storyline I don't think I can explain without spoiling the plot.

But the real enjoyment I got out of this bizarre movie is from AnnaLynne McCord. She is dressed down considerably in this compared to her on 90210. I found her captivating in this movie. She's unhinged, sexually inappropriate and an outright sociopath at times. But it's the way she pulls off all this with a such joy and not caring what anyone thinks of her that just makes this movie rise above being a bargain bin indie film.

The other stuff like the gore etc is fine but not really shocking and doesn't have anything to do with the overall story. I'd say watch it for a fun performance but don't expect anything great in terms of plot.

Don't bother

First off, this is not a horror movie by any reasonable definition of the genre. It's clearly heavily inspired by Ginger Snaps but is a far inferior movie. The lead character repeatedly doing random gross things just to try to shock the audience is juvenile. Even ignoring the little disgusting things she does, I can't remember another movie with a more unlikable lead character than this one. Just an awful human being to everyone around her. Yet somehow it's clear the director expects us to sympathize with her. As much of a ridiculous caricature as Tracy Lords' character is, she comes off as much more sympathetic despite the director's intentions. Same thing in her scenes with John Waters, who is one of a number of silly cameos. Hey, it's John Waters playing a priest, how ironic! Look, Malcolm McDowell! That's Ray Wise! It's that guy from Criminal Minds! They just draw attention to themselves and take you out of the movie. Repeated overly long dream sequences also get old quickly. For some reason I kept watching this all the way to the end, which turned out to be another ridiculous attempt to shock the audience, but it had no impact, because I didn't care by that point.
