A lot of crude language almost ruins a very funny movie!

Foul mouthed and dirty minded and I would have liked it better without the immature sexual and bathroom jokes and a few "F" words, which for the most part are not funny. Several uncomfortable references to homosexuality as well. Too long by about 18 minutes. When it settles down, it becomes a rather clever film as two competing "Superstore" employees compete for "Employee of the Month" against each other and for the new gorgeous employee, played by Jessica Simpson at her best. Rather sophomoric and certainly no "Animal House" by any means, this had incredibly successful box office and media sales. Many cute and silly parts: Jessica has huge ears (fake of course). Filmed in Costco in New Mexico, which becomes a restaurant and amusement park after dark. Bad used cars. Good yet annoying rivalry between 2 ex-friends. One becomes the Super-Cashier All Star and the other remains a box boy for 10 years. The boss' boss and "big brother" is an obnoxious midget! A cute MASH-like baseball game to finish the film. The big, black "dumb-appearing" security guy finds out the secret to the cashier's success which is "under-ringing" the sales, which explains why he is so popular with the customers. It's all on the security tapes! "Superstore" (on NBC in 2016) is a dead-ringer for this sit-com; cleaned-up for network. Shown so often on "The Comedy Channel" that purchase is unnecessary and it might be somewhat cleaned-up and streamlined, too.

Fire Whoever Made This Film.

Employee of the Month (2006): Dir: Greg Coolidge / Cast: Dane Cook, Jessica Simpson, Dax Shepard, Efren Ramirez, Andy Dick: Potential idea about reputation that is reduced to one big absurd mess. Supermarket becomes a great location but under better direction it could have served broader purpose. Dane Cook plays a box boy in constant competition with head cashier and seventeen month top employee Dax Shepard over the affection of new cashier Jessica Simpson. Starts out dumb and only gets dumber right up to its totally lame outcome. Director Greg Coolidge does a half ass job but then again, a little fun with the location might have added some appeal. Cook plays an unsympathetic lout who will obviously grow to care for this girl more than viewers will care for this sh*t film. Shepard overacts constantly as this moron overachiever who obviously has low expectations for himself. Simpson is simply eye candy. Efren Ramirez plays Shepard's dense sidekick who exists to get verbally abused and used as a verbal ashtray by Shepard. Andy Dick is featured to remind viewers that he was funnier providing the voice of the bunny in Hoodwinked. Every bit as lame as that other supermarket comedy waste, Career Opportunities, with just about as few laughs as this idiotic example. Its celebrity promotion proves to be as lazy as its hero is initially, and dies quickly. Score: 2 / 10

Not As Bad As It Looked!

Well, I guess the reason I'm rating it as high as 7/10, is because I expected it to be *a lot* worse. If a movie features a failed/has-been pop singer, you know that it simply *can't* be good. Having seen one other movie with Jessica Simpson (can't even recall what it's called), I can say with absolute certainty that she is truly talentless, and *really* not funny.

Actually, she is not the only one -- the acting in general was quite bad in this movie. Not the worst I've seen, but bad nevertheless.

The biggest problem (aside from the acting), in my option, was lack of humour. There were a couple of semi-funny moments, but that's not enough if you're going to present your movie as comedy. The jokes were quite weak, and, well, not funny.

Overall, however, it's not *that* bad. Obviously, nothing remarkable about it, but many movies in this genre are *much* worse -- they are just annoying and downright unwatchable, but this was actually mildly entertaining, which, like I said, was more than I expected, so I was pleasantly surprised -- hence the high rating.
