A not as good Hangover

"Due Date" tells the story of a successful soon-to be father who, due to some unlikely incidents, gets thrown out of a plane and has to share a car ride home across the country with a man so bizarre, he barely manages to contain himself. Along the ride, many unforeseen occasions and events delay their plans and make the birth of the child a goal increasingly harder to accomplish.

The film comes with two stars and a lot of slapstick gags. Some of them work out quite well and I, too, have to state that I carried a laughter at some points. On the other hand many of the jokes are mediocre, at best and sometimes cross the borders to pure tasteless. The concept is pretty simple, two very different men sharing a ride, and so you can't really say that the movie is a role-model for creativity. Large parts of its charm are really created by the personal aura of the two lead characters that give this rather basic comedy a bit of glamour that carried it onto the big screens.

All in all a lot of people will like the humor of this title, a lot of others won't see much special in it. In my eyes it is no loss to miss out on it, even though there are surely worse slapstick movies and at least this one is good distraction.

Generic but funny road trip comedy

I wasn't expecting much from 'Due Date', but I was pleasantly surprised. I laughed a lot more than I thought I would and the film as a whole is a lot more enjoyable than I'd anticipated. Director Todd Phillips was also behind 'The Hangover' movies and there are some clear similarities between the two, especially in the style of humour.

Zach Galifianakis' character, Ethan, is very similar to The Hangover's Alan. I don't think anybody plays the stupid guy better than him, and he's on top form once again in 'Due Date'. There are some very funny individual scenes, but it never quite reaches the same level of humour as the first Hangover movie, which was relentlessly funny. 'Due Date' is still definitely worth seeing though, even if it's only for the hilarious Galifianakis.

The chemistry between the 2 leads is what will win you over..

High-strung father-to-be Peter Highman is forced to hitch a ride with aspiring actor Ethan Tremblay on a road trip in order to make it to his child's birth on time. Due Date is one of the most underrated Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis films i have ever seen in matter of fact i think that outside the Iron Man films Downey struggles to make some good films and that's the problem because for every Iron Man or Avengers there's always an Air America right? Well this isn't one of his worst films in my opinion the chemistry between the 2 leads is pretty good and some of the jokes do land especially the one in the Plane. The soundtrack is what you would expect from a Road Trip film and some of the cameos are quite good too for example Danny McBride. Overall i think that this film was pretty good it made me laugh and i had a great time watching it and if you liked films such as The Hangover you will definitely like Due Date as well.
