Courageous is the story of four deputy sheriffs from Albany, Georgia and a Hispanic day laborer who all agree to become better fathers after one of them loses a daughter to a drunk driver. One of them doesn't quite make it all the way, the four deputies are Ken Bevel, Alex Kendrick, Ben Davies, and Kevin Downes, the laborer is Robert Amaya.
The notion here is that fathers ought to become more actively engaged with their kids and the nuclear family is at all times paramount and preferred. Now as we well know families can be derived from a variety of sources and arrangements. This film certainly leaves out same sex couples. But as this is a Christian film we know what the stand on that is.
Some decent performances and nice location shooting are Courageous's strongest assets. But I fear this one is for church audiences only.

Four men, one calling: To serve and protect. As law enforcement officers, they face danger every day. Yet when tragedy strikes close to home, these fathers are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, and their faith. From this struggle will come a decision that changes all of their lives. With action, drama, and humor, the fourth film from Sherwood Pictures embraces God's promise to "turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers." Souls will be stirred, and hearts will be challenged to be ... courageous!
