Why did they bother?

CARRIE is the second filmed version of the Stephen King novel, following hot on the heels of an ill-advised sequel version in the late 1990s. Watching this tame TV movie - which has no gore, by the way - and you wonder just why they went to the effort of making it. It's a far, far cry from the 1976 Brian De Palma version, a true masterpiece, of which this is a pale imitation.

CARRIE is long-winded and overlong, dragging out all of the boring family drama and pseudo-romantic scenes. It starts with bad CGI meteorites which isn't an auspicious debut and goes on from there. Angela Bettis headlines the production, following on from her turn in the creepy goth horror flick MAY, and the ever-sinister Patricia Clarkson (NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD) plays her horrid mother. Film fans might also spot GINGER SNAPS actress Katharine Isabelle as one of the bullies and David Keith as a cop.

Direction-wise, this isn't too bad, although the writing is middling and the happy ending a cop-out. The worst thing about it is the bad CGI. The aforementioned meteorites stand out here, alongside the ridiculous flying "creepy Carrie" kid, but these moments are nothing compared to the wallowing CGI overload of the climax, which is completely laughable.

Surprisingly good one!

I already know the story of Carrie, but I'm really surprised how much I enjoyed this remake of the horror '76 classic. It's different movie made for television. The movie has a good editing, camera-work and special effects, but the only problem is that Angela Bettis was too much old for the role. But anyway, it's definitely one of the best made-for-television movies I've seen.

9/10.

A great horror movie.

This is one of the best horror movie of the last decade. Carrie (1976) is better. The Rage Carrie 2 is better. Carrie (2013) is better. But still this a great film. It has a great story line. It also has great special effects. It also has great acting. 5.5 is a good rating. But this is such a good movie that 5.5 is underrating it. See this movie. It is a great movie. It is very scary. I give 8 out of 10. Because it a very good movie. If this movie does not scary you then no movie will. I need more more lines and I am running out of things so say. I am going to repeat myself now. Great movie great movie great great movie great movie. See it see it see ti see it see it see it see it. It is one of the scariest movie from the last decade.
